Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner

Position is working in a clinic setting, outpatient Cancer Center, Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Oncology patients, temporary position while we hire a physician.

§  Baccalaureate degree in nursing required

§  Masters degree in Nurse Practitioner program required, with advanced skills in physical assessment.

§  Must be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

§  Must obtain national certification according to specialty within one (1) year of hire or transfer.

§  Prescriptive privileges as a CRNP in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

§  Must maintain current CPR.

§  For new hires after 5/1/13, ACLS certification required within three (3) months of hire.

§  Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing experience and/or two years post masters clinical nursing experience desirable.

§  Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain communication and interpersonal relationships.

§  Demonstrated ability to deal with complex organizational environments, ambiguity, and change.

§  Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional growth; membership in a professional organization required.

§  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

§  Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patients, families, nursing staff, and other departments.

§  Provides anticipatory guidance, screening and health education to patients to promote and maintain health.

§  Functions in a joint collaborative manner with the physician with support for the nursing role. Has a varied range of practice which includes a direct patient care component as well as an indirect supportive role.

§  Initiates treatment for patients with commonly occurring health problems which lie within the nurse specialist’s scope of practice by using a systematic approach to history and physical appraisal of patients and/or families through clinical judgment of evaluated data. Prescribes, coordinates, delegates and evaluates care.

§  Prescribes medications listed in the approved institutional formulary as a function delegated by the physician consultant(s) to the practice.

§  Plans appropriate care utilizing community resources and acts as a liaison by relaying information necessary for continuity of care to other health professionals and agencies.

§  Instructs individual and/or families or groups about health or defined acute health problems.

§  Works closely with Medical Assistants.

§  Participates in Quality Improvement activities.

§  Participates in education of graduate nursing students as assigned.

§  Promotes guest relations; anticipates and responds to the needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous, quick manner; treats others with care and respect maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dignity.

§  Maintains excellent customer service in accordance with PMC Mission, Vision, and Values.

§  Maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.

§  Accountable to the physician and PMC in the area of medical diagnosis and therapeutics.

§  Submits charges and billing information in a timely manner for reimbursement. Locks charts and documents appropriate charge codes.

§  Follows up on labs and other results on a timely basis. Responds to fax and telephone inquiries on a timely basis.

§  Remains current on healthcare trends, new technology and creative approaches to education.
