Job DetailsAdvanced Information Systems Architect Location: 100% Remote (occasional travel required within the U.S.) Duration: 12 Months (with possible extension) Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (flexibility required, occasional on-call/weekend work) Certification Required: Nextgen Certification (mandatory)Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Information Systems Architect to provide strategic leadership and hands-on support for enterprise-level healthcare IT systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Nextgen Healthcare solutions and health-IT architectures, with the ability to design, implement, and optimize complex systems that align with organizational goals.Key ResponsibilitiesLead planning, design, and evolution of enterprise Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and related technologies.Collaborate with leadership to develop technology strategies, roadmaps, and security frameworks.Oversee compliance with industry standards, state-level requirements, and security protocols.Provide architectural leadership in implementation phases including build, testing, training, and go-live.Partner with vendors and internal teams to implement system integrations (e.g., offender management systems, LIS, PACs, pharmacy).Establish reporting requirements and develop reports from the Nextgen database.Evaluate technology trends, emerging tools, and vendor solutions to recommend best-fit technologies.Develop and enforce IT policies, processes, and management controls.Support strategic initiatives including participation in health information exchanges.Mentor technical staff and contribute to organizational knowledge management.Daily Duties/ResponsibilitiesSupport ongoing operation and optimization of the Nextgen EHR, PM, EDR, NGShare, NG Mobile, MIRTH, eZmar, and Symmetry systems.Provide technical leadership for system implementation, customization, and data exchange.Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and communication with stakeholders.Partner with healthcare providers to implement technology solutions that improve efficiency and patient outcomes.Provide leadership in technology steering committees, security compliance, and IT governance activities.Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (experience may substitute year-for-year).Certification: Active Nextgen Certification (mandatory).Experience:10+ years experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).5+ years hands-on experience with Nextgen EHR, PM, and EDR.5+ years experience with healthcare-specific data interface standards and health information exchange technologies.Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards.Proven track record in enterprise-level systems architecture (on-premises, cloud, or hybrid).Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to manage cross-functional teams.Preferred SkillsExperience with HL7, SQL, Crystal Reports, Mirth, PACs, CIPS/Fusion, Merge, and eMAR systems.Knowledge of project management methodologies.Strong background in security architecture and compliance.
